About Us/History
The Linux Fund was founded in 1999. We gave away our first t-shirt at the LinuxWorld Expo that year.
By the summer of 2000, we were handing out grants.
Our business model is to raise funds and use the proceeds to fund Open Source projects.
Our principal funding source is The Linux Fund affinity credit card, bearing a graphic of Tux®, the Linux Penguin.
It works. We've handed out over a half million dollars in grants from those proceeds.
